About EMS!

Electro Muscular Stimulation (EMS) is a form of stimulating muscles using light, painless, electric impulses. Just as our central nervous system sends electrical impulses to control our muscle action, EMS replicates this natural process, sending electrical impulses to muscles for the purpose of strength training and fitness.

However, with Electro Muscular Stimulation, the process can be intensified, reaching deeper muscle layers which are difficult to activate through conventional exercise.
The average gym workout takes 1 to 2 hours per session. To see and feel results, training is required four times per week, which adds up to 5 hours or more. This amount of time and exercise is not possible for general people. At Alpha Strength, you only need 20 minutes per week to get the same results as 4×90 minutes of a general weights workout.

The bottom line: you will save massive time and achieve, or even exceed your fitness goals. We admit that at first the figures are hard to believe, however, not only are they backed up by solid scientific research, but once you experience the method for yourself, you will certainly believe it!
In order to achieve the most effective results for muscular adaptation and physical functioning, your body needs time to rest and recover.

Research shows that recovery and adaptation periods after whole-body EMS training sessions are significantly longer than for weight and resistance training. It is not beneficial to train more often to gain better results because EMS training is so intense and effective, you only need one session per week to start.
The difference will be felt straight after your first workout, your body will be releasing endorphins, your circulation increasing and your posture automatically improving due to the recent muscle activation. After a couple of days, some muscle stiffness will be felt, which is entirely normal. After approximately 3 to 4 weeks, you will not only feel, but see a visible difference from the EMS training. Of course, as with conventional training, EMS training should be done regularly to maintain and ensure optimal results.
Over the last few decades, an extensive amount of research has proven the effectiveness and scientific validation of EMS training. Amongst others, areas of improvement include:

• Maximum strength
• Strength endurance
• Hypertrophy (muscle growth)
• Speed, responsiveness and agility
• Perceived physical well-being
• Balancing of muscular imbalances (i.e. reduction of back pain)
Yes, EMS training stimulates all major muscle groups to grow which activates our metabolism. The more lean muscle, the more calories are burned and metabolism blisters fat.

Logically, EMS training is a fat and weight reduction tool, you will start seeing results after a few workouts, if you combine it with a balanced diet; it is the perfect method for a fast and healthy lifestyle to a perfect body shape.
Cellulite: Anti-cellulite treatment needs activity and stimulation. Instead of only treating the surface, EMS activates the muscular and connective tissue in its entirety which leads to better circulation and the reduction of superfluous fat cells. The result is a firmer, tighter body!

Fat and padding: EMS training is an optimal solution for lasting weight-loss and fat removal. Healthy eating alone is not enough, you need effective, regular training to reduce fat in problem areas. With EMS training you can focus on specific problem areas, like your stomach, waist, hips, thighs, etc.

Improved circulation: EMS training enhances circulation through all connective tissue which helps improve skin tone; the removal of metabolic byproducts and toxins in the lymph glands. It also helps stimulate internal organs and peristalsis.
Performance and sport: Alpha Strength is the perfect backup for athletes. Our EMS training devices in combination with conventional training methods quickly lead to a new level of power and high-speed performance. This training is especially interesting for athletes whose type of sport is governed by speed as specific speed-training is needed.

Muscle formation and definition: We use electro muscle stimulation to achieve stronger and more intense muscle contractions than a voluntary exertion can achieve alone. Depending on intensity and individual goals, you can build muscles and achieve better definition while also making them stronger and more responsive, your muscles simply become more efficient.

Strength and training: With EMS training you gain strength in a shorter period of time. Individual adjustment of intensity, duration and frequency helps achieve personal training goals quickly, effectively and consistently, whether it’s increasing maximum strength or improving endurance and overall fitness levels.
Wellbeing at all levels: EMS training has a therapeutic effect as it promotes a feeling of physical and mental wellbeing.

Pain reduction: Back pain is the most common ailment among the general population. One of the main causes is muscular imbalance in the torso caused by poor posture and a sedentary lifestyle. EMS training targets and strengthens the deeper layers of the torso muscle group which helps alleviate back pain as these deep muscles are difficult to activate with conventional methods.

Rehabilitation and mobility: After injury or an operation, your muscle volume and strength decreases. Training with EMS provides optimal support when it comes to gently rebuilding a specific muscle or muscle groups. All exercises can be performed in either a horizontal or a standing position.

Incontinence: Bladder weakness is a common and embarrassing condition. EMS training can prevent and relieve incontinence by strengthening the pelvic floor muscles after just a few sessions. EMS training is especially beneficial for women suffering from post-pregnancy bladder weakness.
EMS does not hurt at all. Only low impulse frequencies are used, and our bodies feel very little difference between a natural impulse and an external impulse created via an EMS machine. You can be confident that your personal trainer will adjust their frequency to the most suitable and comfortable training impulse level for you.
EMS training is certainly not dangerous, and the low frequency current does not harm your body. EMS is commonly used throughout the world in hospitals and physiotherapy centres as a safe and effective rehabilitation treatment. Muscles rely on electrical impulses from the central nervous system, naturally, to contract. EMS simply mimics this principle. The difference lies, however, in the ability to intensify the contraction externally, by applying electrodes onto the skin right above the muscle.
No, EMS training has been extensively researched over the past few decades. It has been certified by research centres and has passed German and European testing.
Most people can use EMS training but if you have a health condition which prevents you from participating in conventional sport then you must definitely get an approval from your doctor.

The absolute contraindications are:
• Heart pacemaker
• Pregnancy
• Severe circulatory disorder and arterial disorder
• Abdominal wall or inguinal hernia
• Tuberculosis
• Tumor diseases
• Arteriosclerosis in advanced stages
• Diabetes mellitus
• Severe neurological illnesses (epilepsy, multiple sclerosis)
• Fever, acute bacterial or viral infections
• Bleedings (hemorrhage) and heavy bleeding tendency (hemophilia)

If you suffer from any of the above conditions please consult your doctor to obtain medical approval before starting with EMS training.
Numerous studies at the University of Bayreuth (2002 – 2003) and Erlangen-Nürnberg (2009), at the German Sporthochschule Köln (2008), as well as the heart clinic in Bad Oeynhausen (2010) have shown the effectiveness of EMS training. Trained and untrained people achieve visible and tangible results in very little time.

As a matter of fact, not only general muscle-building is achieved:
• EMS training works excellently for increasing an athlete’s speed, due to the fast twitching (FT) muscle fibers being activated first by the external impulse.
• EMS also works great when certain areas are targeted, for example buttocks, stomach or back, especially for reduction of back pain.

Furthermore and most importantly, EMS unlike conventional training, puts no stress on the joints.

The Alpha Strength machine is the market leader in EMS technology and covers 99% of the world’s market.

EMS training from Alpha Strength is full body training that doesn’t only target one specific muscle group. You’ll always train under the guidance of a personal trainer who can activate each muscle according to your goals and needs. Another essential difference is that Alpha Strength EMS device is able to stimulate the agonist and antagonist muscles simultaneously.

This means you are able to activate multiple muscle groups at the same time. Deeper muscle tissue is engaged, which is often under-used due to the dominance of the bigger muscles, it is also activated to a higher degree in comparison to conventional EMS or weight training in a gym.

From a technical perspective, Alpha Strength training is based on a bipolar impulse mode, which allows the whole muscle to contract, while other EMS training devices often operate using a unipolar impulse mode. This form of whole body training, combined with our selected exercises and personal trainer guidance, leads to the most effective and rapid results.
Alpha Strength studios specialize in EMS training, we don’t offer other forms of training in our studios. This allows us to provide an exclusive training solution, which we consider to be the major factor in enabling you to reach your training goals and for you to save time. Our trainers use the most intense and most effective program on EMS device tailored for each individual.

The personal trainer guides your training every step of the way ensuring you get the full benefit of each and every workout. Our expertise in EMS training allows us to work with exclusive pricing and membership system, without any hidden or additional costs for extra services.
